About

Emily Nelson

Since I was a child, all I ever wanted was to be an artist, someone who could draw, paint, and find inspiration in life and the beauty of the everyday. I also dreamed of being a mother, and I’m incredibly lucky to have five amazing kids. Life’s twists and turns have meant that it’s taken me a little longer to establish Emily Nelson Design House, but I’m more inspired than ever to grow, evolve, and create.

I was born in Brighton and studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London from 2003 to 2006. I now live and work in a village just north of Brighton in Sussex.

As an impressionist/realist artist, I prefer working with oils, though I also enjoy acrylics, watercolours, and pen & ink. My work is driven by the desire to provoke a response in others and to connect them with the beauty that surrounds us. A consistent theme across all my pieces is a rich, atmospheric palette, which I believe has the power to evoke mood and emotion. Whether it’s portraits, landscapes, or still life, I celebrate the diversity of my subjects and the uniqueness of each piece. Ultimately, I want my art to inspire, be shared, and bring joy to those who encounter it. If you’re interested in a personal commission or if you’re an interior designer seeking art for a project, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I also offer wholesale prints. For interior design consultations or to inquire about my work, contact me at [email protected].
